About

Hi and welcome to Tech Tastes!

I’m Rob and I’m super passionate about gaming, gadgets, and technology so I decided to share my knowledge and interest on this site.

Born in the late 1970s, I’ve been an avid gamer since I can remember. I spent my childhood playing games on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), the classics such as Super Mario Bros, Metroid and Double Dragon spring to mind. I even managed to secure a mention in the UK edition of Club Nintendo Magazine for beating the secret unlockable Mike Tyson character in Super Punch Out in record time. This is probably still my biggest gaming achievement to date! How I wish I kept a copy of the magazine. As time went on, my love of gaming evolved into the various Nintendo, Sega, Microsoft and Sony consoles of today.

These days you can find me playing Warzone on the PC mostly, with a sprinkling of the latest big console exclusives. I spend a lot of my spare time researching the best controllers, headphones, and the latest gaming gear to enhance my gaming experience.

I’ve also worked in IT for the past 15 years, mainly in higher education. I’ve worked on and tested countless pieces of software, helping higher educational institutions and the next generation streamline the experience of attending university.

The goal of this site is to help you with any tech questions you might have. Whether you’re a gamer or looking for advice on the latest security software updates, I can help. I’m particularly interested in aiding my generation (Gen X) and up when it comes to gaming or smart tech. Gaming isn’t only fun but it can also help with improving cognitive and functional abilities and connect you to the tech-savvy generations that are constantly looking at a screen.

Oh, and I’m also a bit of a movie nerd so you’ll see some posts about entertainment and new releases here too.
